Meet Our Clinicians

Therapy Center of Houston

Corey Stork, LMSW

Asking for help can be intimidating, but it can also be a sign of tremendous strength. Therapy can be a healing and empowering process to help you reach your own solutions to the problems you face. I like to take a collaborative approach in therapy and see myself as a supportive partner in your therapeutic process rather than an expert imparting knowledge. We will examine how you reached the point you are at, what might be keeping you “stuck,” and work to develop the tools, strategies, and plans to help you move forward on a path of your own choosing.

I have experience working with a variety of different concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, self-esteem and burnout. I use a variety of therapeutic modalities to work with my clients and believe that one size does not fit all when it comes to my approach. I have experience with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), internal family systems (IFS), emotionally focused therapy (EFT) and the Gottman approach to couples/relationship therapy.

I love working with the LGBTQ+ community and geeks/nerds to help explore how our various identities intersect with our sense of self and impact current life circumstances. As the husband of a doctor, I have unique insight into the stressors experienced by medical professionals and other high-burnout fields. I spent a decade working in higher education and have a great understanding of the particular challenges presented in young adulthood. I have also worked with homeless youth at The Montrose Center (LGBTQ+ Community Center) and have been a mental health case manager at The Menninger Clinic.

When not counseling, I enjoy spending time with my husband, two goldendoodles, and cat. I’m also an avid volleyball player, anime/comic book nerd, and collector of hobbies.

I am an LMSW licensed in the state of Texas. I earned my Bachelor of Business Administration at The University of Toledo, Master of Science in Higher Education Administration at Northwestern University, and Master of Social Work at The University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work.
